New York, NY and Los Angeles,
CA— The Museum of Television & Radio announced today the introduction
of the Blog Potato and Daily Mash, new features written by the Museum’s curatorial and
education staffs, as part of the Museum’s newly redesigned website (www.mtr.org). Reclaiming the couch potato stereotype in the name of thought-provoking
analysis and dialogue—sans stuffiness—the two new features will contain musings
from staff curators and educators writing under handles such as “Fried,” “Home
Fry,” “Yukon Gold,” “Tater,” and “Au Gratin.”
Blog Potato topics will vary monthly, explored through
multiple essays covering media and popular culture. Subjects will range from science-fiction to
masked cultural parallels to advertising. The
Daily Mash, to be added later this month, will reflect more immediate and
topical issues through shorter and more frequent postings, not built around any
particular theme. Site visitors are encouraged to post their own responses, and
initiate conversations with the staff.
The Museum’s redesigned site also includes numerous other additions,
including flash tours of the Museum facilities in
